STARWEAVE

STARWEAVE is a turn-based RPG made by 50+ developers and the game focuses on narrative development and managing relationships with the player’s party members. Set against the backdrop of a world held hostage by prophecy, the player will need to get to the root of their party’s problems in order to lead the team effectively. STARWEAVE features a refusal mechanic where combatants may refuse orders and act independently of the player.

On STARWEAVE, I was originally brought onto the engineering team to temporarily help fix some bugs before a big deadline but the team liked my work ethic so much they asked me to become a permanent member of the engineering team. By the end of my work on the project, I am credited for narrative engineering, UI/UX engineering, combat engineering, and implementation. While I often prefer design work to code, it was extremely valuable to work in an environment with so many different developers in a workflow that was unfamiliar to me at the time.

The work I did on STARWEAVE helped ready the game for each showcase or deadline by bringing all the pieces and putting them together in the game. A lot of this work involved editorial work on art, audio, and narrative assets for proper implementation into Unity. We did not have a QA team on this project so I often spent my spare work time on playtesting and bug fixing wherever I could. After all the team’s hard work, the game will be available on Steam soon.
